I was kindly invited (by the very nice Pherekydes Beaumont) to the unofficial preopening prerelease party of the Nokia sim today. A few things to mention there: They didn’t hire a huge agency to plan their SL performance, according to the keynote only nokia employees and some residents built the sim.

[12:29] Digistar Brouwer: Welcome everybody! Thank you for coming here today for our St.Valentines Secret Love Party! Today, It is my pleasure and an honor to declare this sim open to the public. No agencies were used to build this sim. What we see here is the result of collaboration between Nokia Employees and Second Life residents. May we all enjoy it. I hope that we will all have lots of fun here. I at least am very proud of the result. Credit for the creation should go to the many friends we have made here and whom have tirelessly helped to make our presence in SL what I believe is a truly unique one. I once read a sentence I want to share with you also here today because I think it is appropriate for RL companies to understand. “You don’t build a community, you join one” Now, having said that, it’s time to party!!!

And it leaks like they are building a mobile version of the SL client for the N800.(that’s a small embedded Linux palmtop). There are no screenshots yet (I asked), but I’m amazed, I own the old N770 which is a cool thing, and the world is lacking a mobile client for too long now.

The following partay was a very crashy event, I wasn’t able to login with both hair and boots on the Nokia Sim, and crashed a few times (the DJ was nice though). Maybe they should have asked some fellow oldfart residential professionals on the scripting aspects at least…
