No Metaverse08 in SL!!1!
I’ve been pretty busy lately, with a new project, and right now my sweet little notebook is on the plane to New Zealand, without me. *sniff*
Now that I have some spare time, I wanted to check the latest news about the Metaverse08 conference, that just started today. (Noes, I didn’t make it to Karlsruhe, despite of some rumors, sorry tx and Eyreen^^) Remember, the Metaverse07 somehow failed to take place in RL, although they had a nice meeting in SL. Well, it can only go better, no? The Second Life search didn’t prove to be too helpful for that, but on the website I found some small note that:
Wird es parallel zur Metaverse08 auch eine Inworld Veranstaltung geben?
Nein, nicht parallel, aber sicher wird es alternierend zur Real-World Veranstaltung auch wieder eine Inworld Veranstaltung zum Thema Virtuelle Welten auf der IT republic geben.
For the english readers:
Will there also be an in World event parallel to Metaverse08?
No, not parallel, but there will surely be an in World event concerning Virtual Worlds on the IT Republic alternating with the Real World event.
Alternating? That means, like exactly wot?? Anyway, IT Republic, that’s just a tp away.
But what I found there was a sim packed with prims, some spam terminals for dirty magazines like J*va Devel%§# and .N€T-XXX (or so), a huge stage with lots of colorful announcements, and… Nothing:
Oh yes, some fellow avatar. He was from USA and was waiting for some in world events too. We had a nice long talk about how lame it is to have a huge conference about virtual worlds, without being in-world. Talking about music is like dancing about architecture^^ But maybe we just missed the real meat, and Metaverse08 is live broadcasting into Habbo Hotel? Or, now I get it, we can see the tracks on LiveLife4U, in 3 weeks or so. Jeah, that’s the spirit of a online collaborative virtual world, watching TV about past time events, virtually together.
Ganz großes Fernsehen.
Anyway, Torrid will be at the SL-Treffen.de this weekend in Berlin, and see all good people. And you can bet your sweet Avatar’s *ss that there will be some impact on Second Life…
Cya there!
