Das war klasse heute. $Auftraggeber hat sich nach Second Life begeben, vor Ort, in medias res: Ein Programmierer, ein QA und ein Verantwortlicher.
Wir haben an einem Tag mehr geschafft, als man normalerweise mit Emails, ausbessern, Versionen freigeben, rätseln, was der andere nun wieder meint in vielen Tagen erledigen würde.
Ich hab die Hoffnung auf Agile Entwicklungsmethoden, Pair Programming und Code Review vor einigen Jahren mal an den Nagel gehängt, aber da war ich a) selber noch zu unsicher und b) von Luschen umgeben. ;P Aufgegeben habe ich das nie, und mit tx bin ich auch ganz gut auf einer Wellenlänge, dass es klappt. Schön, wenn — wie heute — der Kunde sowas mitmacht, und besonders schön, wenn es funkt.
Ach ja, es wird eine große Ankündigung geben, die Tage. Inter-Grid-Reisen, Virtual Entity Retainment, Virtual Presence. Interoperability.

Hey, it’s been a while, that I was actually at the Loveparade in Berlin… (And I’ve been to the Fuckparade/Hateparade much more often… ) But: Second Life has changed my musical spectrum in such a way, that I am much more influenced by Techno, Drum&Bass, Industrial Hardcore, Happy/Gabber/Braindead music, than I could ever have imagined.

Wow, that’s really psychedelic. yukon/seom, yunikorn and vlc magick. Not yet mp4, but mpeg1 (which quicktime can handle also). 8 seconds latency. Easily scalable.

(For the curious: It’s a video stream taken directly from my SL window, and played back into SL. Theoretically I could stream any kind of OpenGL application.)

Today, while I was busy trying to stream the Finale of the Soccer EM (never say soccer^^) to our land on meetingpoint, I had a funny effect. I am building a new TV receiver for DBC Radio TV Switzerland, and every once in a while, I used that to check if the media was still working. Then, within the first few frames of Torley Lindens funny video “How to build a 1 prim barstool” (streaming directly from youtube, which is super easy with the new DBC TV), some magic happened:

Now we have a huge Torley Linden, wearing some sort of Spy vs. Spy costume and a watermelon ghetto blaster protecting our Sim.

Btw, the Soccer Streaming didn’t work for me. All ZDF live broadcasts have a Quicktime option, so you can find out the rtsp streaming url and paste that in your Media Options. But ARD (“Das Erste”) only broadcasts ASX or WMV streams. Somewhat lame for a public payed TV station.

Das hier ist die heißeste Strategie-Simulation auf dem Markt.
Du startest mit einer Demokratie und musst diese innerhalb 12 Jahren zu
einem konzerngeführten, feudalen Herrschaftssystem umwandeln.
Is’ echt heftig. Mindestens 50% Deiner Bevölkerung musst Du unter die
Armutsgrenze zwingen, kasernieren, überwachen und für Null schuften lassen,
dürfen nicht älter als 60 werden, und du musst ihnen immer wieder glaubhaft
versichern, dass alle Maßnahmen nur zu ihrem Besten sind.

Un’ ich sag dir, selbst wenn du es schaffst dein Volk bildungsmäßig auf
Low-Level zu halten – die KI der Massen in dieser Simulation ist der Hammer.

Ach Darlings, wenn man erstmal drin ist in der Machinima-Mühle, lässt einen das im Leben nicht mehr los. Dabei habe ich mich dem Genre ja ursprünglich von der anderen Seite des O-Dingsbums genähert, indem ich im zarten Avataralter Special Effects für Bebop Vox‘ Phantom of the Opera programmiert habe. (And that was my very second job ever in SL, thank you Bebop^^)

Äh, hat dieses Posting irgendetwas damit zu tun, dass ich gerade House of Wax mit Paris Hilton sehe, wofür sie als schlechteste Nebendarstellerin 2005 gekürt wurde? Nainn!
